The Acura TSX continues largely unchanged for 2007. It offers many of the latest safety features as standard equipment, including a tire pressure monitoring system that was added for 2007.
Acura did a marvelous job of blending a fun-to-drive vehicle with a practical compact sedan for their entry-level 2007 TSX. Its wide grille and modern headlights provide a distinct look that is consistent with Acura's design motifs. The TSX's low base price belies its well-equipped nature, with such standard features as xenon headlights, heated exterior mirrors, XM satellite radio, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
It uses a 2.4L engine to drive the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic. Thanks to double-overhead camshafts, four-valves-per-cylinder and adjustable VTEC camshaft timing, this four-cylinder engine makes a potent 205 horsepower and a respectable 164 lb-ft of torque. There is a goodly amount of low-end torque and a rip-snorting top-end rush, that makes this powerplant feel larger than it actually is.
Our tester had the manual transmission, and it suits the character of this car perfectly. The throw is short and the action is remarkably direct for a front-wheel drive vehicle. The TSX's four-wheel disc brakes offer wonderful stopping power, and the ABS circuitry come in handy when gravel or other road debris appears mid-corner. With both standard traction control and vehicle stability assist, the TSX swung through every corner with precision. In fact, it felt downright tossable.
